The Morning Glories I had along my fence are now gone. I love the flower and its color. It is a beautiful vine with large leaves. In some ways now my fence is a blank slate.
The only problem with Morning Glories is that out here in California they are very agressive. They do not die off in the summer. They send runners and use seeds to create new plants. Every year, I would engage in a battle with the Morning Glory to cut it back. The next year it would come back bigger than the year before. I was losing the battle and the war.
The vine was removed when my fence was replaced. Instead of the vine, I know have some grape vines. While grape vines can get big, they can be controlled and if you need to remove them you don’t have to do tremendous amounts of work to remove every root and runner.
So while I am sad to see them gone, I am also glad to no longer have to engage in a 3 day battle to keep it under control every year.
